During the spring and early summer, adult male Goldfinches exhibit a vibrant yellow plumage complemented by a black forehead, black wings that feature white markings, and white patches both above and below their tails. In contrast, adult females display a more subdued yellow tone on their undersides, with olive coloration on their upper parts. In winter, Goldfinches appear quite plain, with an unmarked brown body, dark wings, and two light wingbars.
