Sparrowhawks can be found throughout most regions of Britain and Ireland, although they are absent from the northern Scottish uplands and certain island groups. They tend to be most numerous in lowland areas, particularly in eastern England, whereas their populations are considerably lower in northwest Scotland and other upland regions.
